Reverse Osmosis Systems

The process of Reverse Osmosis removes undesirable materials from the water by using high water pressure to force water molecules through a semi-permeable membrane. The process is called "Reverse" Osmosis because a concentrated water solution (raw) is forced under pressure to yield a diluted water solution (treated) for consumption. RO has been proven to be the most economical technology for the desalination of water containing salts; it removes up to 99% of salts from the water. While at the same time it removes contaminants such as chemicals, ionized salts, heavy metals, pesticides, herbicides, colloids, radionuclides, bacteria, organic and inorganic molecules down to a molecular weight of 100.

            5 Stage Reverse Osmosis

The point of use (pou) Reverse Osmosis is known as a 5 Stage RO. The system purifies water for drinking and cooking purposes. Dasani and Aquafina water both use the process of Reverse Osmosis. 

What are the stages?

Stage 1: A 5 micron spun polypropylene replaceable cartridge to remove silt, iron and other particulate matter.

Stage 2: A granulated activated carbon (GAC) replaceable cartridge to reduce chlorine present in stage 1 water, trap odors, improve clarity, taste and further remove soluble organic contaminants. 

Stage 3: A carbon block replaceable cartridge to further treat stage 2 water to complete the removal of any chlorine remaining as well as finish filtering the water prior to entry into the membrane. 

Stage 4: A 70 gallon per day thin film composite (TFC) replaceable membrane using stage 3 pre-filtered water at 80 psi to physically screen out sodium, other microorganisms and pathogenic bacteria. The system reduces the total dissolved solids 99%, while increasing treated water delivered by over 60% in a given time span, resulting in a 1-2 hour storage tank fill rate with minimal waste water to drain.

Stage 5: An in-line final carbon replaceable GAC (granular activated carbon) sealed filter module, which takes stage 5 tank stored water and polishes it; maximizing clarity, color and taste prior to consumption. 

       Whole House Reverse Osmosis

The point of entry (poe) Reverse Osmosis system is known as a Whole House Reverse Osmosis System. This provides pure water for residential and light commercial applications through the process known as submicronic filtration. This process can remove all contaminants from water.  The water is held in a storage tank and sent back to the user. This system allows you to drink, shower, flush the toilet, do laundry and wash your hands all using RO purified water. 

What is it and how does it work? 

It is a complete water treatment system for any home water supply using a holding tank fed by a well, spring, stream, lake, etc.

The system is designed to reduce: Arsenic Bacteria, Radon Gas, VOCs, Turbidity, Color, Bad Taste, Odor, Iron (Rust Stains), Manganese (Black Stains), Sulfur (Rotten Egg Smell) and other contaminants. 

The system uses a water treatment process that removes undesirable materials from water by using pressure to force the water molecules through a semi permeable membrane. ROs remove ionized salts, colloids and organic molecules down to a molecular weight of 100.

An Ozone Generator in combination with an Air Pump, continuously aerates your water tank with tiny ozone saturated bubbles, which oxidize and kill many of the impurities in your water. These ozone-saturated bubbles also provide the pumping action to constantly circulate and filter the entire contents of your holding tank at the rate of about 10 gallons per minute (600 gallons per hour-over 14,000 gallons per day). The result is refreshing, delicious, high quality completely pure water throughout your home for all of your water needs: Showering, laundering, dish washing, cooking, etc. 

Definition of Ozone (O3): Ozone, one of nature's basic elements, is a very powerful disinfecting and deodorizing gas consisting of oxygen (O2) with an extra oxygen atom attached, therefore becoming ozone (O3). When oxygen in the air is exposed to electric corona discharge, ozone is created (such as our sun creating the ozone layer). When ozone does its job, it oxidizes by giving up and attaching its extra oxygen atom to anything that can be oxidized. Once this process occurs, the ozone molecule becomes oxygen (O3-O=O2). Thus, the only by-product of ozone is pure oxygen. In fact, ozone reverts to pure oxygen quite rapidly and naturally. The half-line of ozone in the air is on the order of hours and on the order of minutes when dissolved in water. Additionally, ozone dissolves over 12 times more readily into water than pure oxygen, then reverts to oxygen, providing hundreds of times more dissolved oxygen in your water than could otherwise be possible. The high oxygen content of your water provides many of the benefits made possible with the Whole House RO.
